Also known as the "Tree of Life" or Western Red Cedar, the Giant Arborvitae trees are harvested for their wood for various construction and furniture applications. The sawdust by-product is collected and distilled to produce one of the most amazing cedarwood oils around, much different than the traditional Texan and Virginian cedarwood oils that are also members of the Cupressaceae botanical family. With over 50% methyl thujate, this amazing wood oil has been the subject of recent research.
Arborvitae essential oil may assist with the appearance of skin when properly diluted and applied topically. With its woodsy aroma, it would make a lovely addition to a blend for relaxing outdoors on a summer evening. It is also a popular addition to masculine blends.
