Method of Production: Steam DistillationCupressus torulosa, also known as Himalyan Cypress or Bhutan Cypress, is a member of the Cupressaceae botanical family that is an evergreen tree known to grow to a height of 45 meters (150 ft). This species of cypress is native to southern Asia including Nepal and the Himalayas. Known for its use in the timber industry, it is usually used to make posts, beams, and other construction materials.
Because this Cypress Wood Oil has not been commonly used in aromatherapy, there is very little known about its uses and safety. It is much different in chemistry than the Cupressus sempervirens leaf oil that is usually found. Its general chemical profile suggests that it appears to be safe for topical use in lower doses. However, due to the lack of specific safety testing on the whole oil, it is suggested that it be used by inhalation such as by diffusing. Cypress Wood essential oil blends well with most citrus, wood, and floral oils, or any blend that would benefit from its rich, woodsy aroma. Try blending with Mandarin and Patchouli for a relaxing diffuser blend or add to your choice of oils to make a room potpourri.
