HELICHRYSUM OIL, CORSICA

Latin Name:  Helichrysum italicum

Part of Plant:  Flower

Country of Origin:  Corsica

Method of Production:  Steam Distillation

Helichrysum italicum, also known as Helichrysum angustifolium, Immortelle, Everlasting, or just plain Helichrysum, is a member of the Asteraceae (formally Compositae) botanical family.  It is a small perennial shrub that produces bright yellow flowers and is native to the Mediterranean region.  The essential is produced by steam distillation of the flowering tops and should not be confused with other species like Helichrysum gymnocephalum, that have an entirely different aroma, and are much cheaper in price.  This Corsican Helichrysum is the best we've ever imported.   The oil is copper distilled which gives a superior odor with and a nice green color to the oil.  With its rich buttery sweetness,  we promise you won't be disappointed in this Helichrysum .

Helichrysum essential oil tends to blend well with most other oils, and is one oil that really shines in topical blends.  Try blending with oils like Roman Chamomile, Copaiba, Hemp, or Peppermint for a soothing massage after a long day on your feet.  It may assist with the appearance of skin when properly diluted and applied topically.  Also, consider adding a little bit to Lavender, Sandalwood, Orange, and Vetiver for a relaxing diffuser blend.

Usage ideas:

  • Add a few drops of essential oils to a diffuser, cotton round, or a tissue.

  • Dilute to 1% in your choice of carrier oils to make a face serum or body oil.  Apply a small amount to damp skin after washing to help seal in moisture.

  • Add 5-15 drops to 1 oz. of your choice of carrier oils to make a massage oil.

  • Mix a few drops with an unscented liquid soap or bubble bath and add to the tub when filling.

For convenience on the go…

  • Properly dilute with your choice of carrier oils in a roller bottle.

  • Add up to a total of 15 drops of essential oils to a personal aromatic inhaler (aroma stick).
